There are wedding photographers who want you to believe that standard waiting time for your wedding photos is 6 to 8 weeks. There is no legitimate excuse for that. We guarantee in wedding photography contract to have your wedding photos ready within 30 days. Usually within 2 weeks is our standard delivery time. It is because we are busy which is why orders are fulfilled as they come in NOT because we have lives to live that processing wedding pics are constantly put on hold. I can't afford to have any orders piling up. Funny some photographers saying they have lives to live so processing randomly put on hold. They had no problem making time to photograph the Wedding Day for $1,500 or so but after they make their clients sometimes wait up to 3 months and even longer. Back when shooting weddings with medium format film cameras with Kodak Portra 220 roll film I didnt have customers waiting over 30 days. Today, now that most photographers shooting digital process their files themselves or use an online service, wedding day images should be deliverable to wedding clients within 30 days.
I also operate my own digital photo lab providing RAW camera file processing, JPEG editing and printing services. I print all standard and custom sizes from wallet sheet up to 16" x 20" black & white and color photographs. For my studio, I have these print packages ready for pick-up at the studio by the next business day.
I'm a full-time professional portrait/wedding photographer which may be another reason I'm able to provide faster services. I'm not moonlighting or operating a fly-by-night operation. My working income is from working full-time in my photography business and other self-employment ventures I engage in.
Don't really want to alarm my readers. But there are some other important things to be aware of. Make sure the photographer is operating a licensed business. Many wedding and event venues will check for this more or less 30 days before your special day. There are legal and liability reasons the venue manager/owners can be concerned about this. Their own insurance agency and/or attorney may have advised them to do this. With the photographer licensed and carrying appropriate amount of liability insurance, this helps to legally and financially protect everyone. Many venues will refuse any vendor coming onto the venue property which is not legally licensed to do business and which does not carry liability insurance protection. Usually $1,000,000 per incidence is the common standard requirement.
